Bio-Bottle

Our group is studying the effects that electronics have on the environment when are not disposed of properly. To gain more information on this topic we are creating two terra-aqua bottles. The first bottle will have a layer on dirt with electronics debris mixed in, then there will be a layer on regular soil, followed up with water at the botttom. The secong terra-aqua bottle will be our control will have two layers of dirt then a bottom filled with water. We will measure the effects that the electronics have on the environment by simulating rainfall by pouring water into the first layer of dirt , then we'll use a probe to measure the level of contaminants in the water. We think this will accurately represent the effect of electronics littering on the environment.

Smog is one of the most widely known forms of air pollution. Smog is created when large amounts of coal burning and vehicular/industrial emissions are generated in a concentrated area. Some large cities such as Los Angeles and Mexico City have large problems with smog because they are large industrial centers. Recently regulations have been enacted to help reduce smog.

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century. The Earth temperature has risen .74 degrees celcuis in the last century. A big contributer to global warming is the burning of fossil fuels and deforestization caused by mankind. In the last twenty years there has been a big push to stop global warming but this is much easier said then done.
